GTA Online, the multiplayer counterpart of the massively successful Grand Theft Auto 5 is all set to have its first-ever map expansion as latest sources have claimed.
One of the most successful and highest-selling games of all-time, a major chunk of GTA V’s triumph has relied on its online counterpart. With more than 100k players logging in every day to GTA Online, it has become the biggest factor behind the massive sales of GTA V.
Since the Online mode was launched back on 1st October 2013, two weeks after GTA V was launched on PS3 and Xbox 360, Rockstar has regularly brought in one after other free updates to it, in form of new game modes, the highly popular heists, and even the massive array of vehicles.
However now, GTA Online is set to take it to the next level as the latest inputs suggest that a map expansion is coming, which is slated to be the largest update since its release.
Map expansion reportedly coming to GTA Online as its biggest update to date
The speculations rose from the music video of British virtual band Gorillaz, which seemingly featured the new map expansion at the end of their song “The Valley of the Pagans”.
The music video of the song, which has now been taken down by Rockstar, was created inside Los Santos, the current location for GTA V and Online map, and showed an island that looks similar to the cover of the track’s album “Plastic Beach”.
However, famous Rockstar insider Liberty93 has confirmed that a map expansion is indeed making its way to GTA Online in the near future.
“Take Two likes to play with words a bit and a new location can also be a new location like the mall, the Korz Center or many others,” said Liberty93, “Caution is therefore required, even if on our side we can now confirm that a map extension should arrive sooner or later on GTA Online.”
