Grand Theft Auto 6, the next entry into Rockstar’s famed GTA franchise has been rumoured to be in development for some years now. One of the questions regarding GTA 6 that has often bothered the fans of the series has been the possible location for the game, with Vice City being one of the most potential settings in addition to some else. However, a latest leak in Reddit suggest that the game is very likely return to Vice City from the 2002 release.

The Liberty City of GTA III, and Los Santos of GTA San Andreas are the only two cities that have seen a return from the 3D Universe into the HD Universe, being the setting for GTA IV and GTA V respectively. However, only Vice City from the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is yet to make a reappearance in the franchise. Being one of the most successful and popular entries in the franchise, Vice City remains a fan favourite even 18 years after its release.

While rumours suggest that Grand Theft Auto 6 has the possibility to be set in a Rio de Janeiro inspired city or to take a multi city approach like San Andreas, the Miami-themed city was always a front runner.

Take-Two interactive renews ownership of 2 Grand Theft Auto Vice City domains

A couple of days ago, a post by Reddit user cmputerguy in the r/GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit has indicated that Take-Two interactive, the owner of Rockstar Games has renewed its ownership of two domains named gtavicecityonline and gtavi.com.

While this move by Take Two can just be a step to prevent others from buying the domains, or to secure the IPs, it also heavily suggest that the domains can be there for a possible future use.

The domain ‘Gta Vice City Online’ hints an implementation of an online counterpart of GTA 6, which is very obvious considering the success GTA V’s online mode has achieved since its release.

All in all, any confirmed details about Grand Theft Auto 6 is still far off, as Rockstar at present is very much focused on GTA V and the Red Dead Redemption 2. However, fans can expect a reveal sometime in 2021, with a possible release date for GTA 6 in either 2022 or 2023.
