Poland secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the Group C tie in the ongoing FIFA World Cup at the Education City Stadium in Qatar.
Poland picks up comfortable win
Poland recently played out a goalless draw with Mexico in their opening game of the tournament, Saudi Arabia stunned Lionel Messi-led Argentina 2-1 to take the top spot in the table.
In the first half, Polish side enjoyed most of the possession despite starting cautiously. It was Krystian Bielik who came closest to opening the scoring for the Polish, but his header from a resulting corner was blocked just ahead of the line by Saleh Alshehri. In the 39th minute, Lewandowski received a pass and Saudi were caught short. He played a square pass to Zielinski, who managed to give his side a lead right before first half.
Wojciech Szczesny had then saved a penalty, before also blocking the rebound to keep his side’s lead intact. Robert Lewandowski had then scored his first goal in the World Cup in the 82nd minute as his side sealed a 2-0 victory.
