Mackenzie Dern is an American professional mixed martial artist and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. She is a former world No. 1 ranked IBJJF competitor, currently ranked 6th among the female divisions. She is an ADCC and BJJ (black belt) World Champion. As of September 1, 2020, she is #15 in the UFC women’s strawweight rankings.

She was born on March 24th,1993 in Phoenix, Arizona and grew up travelling back and forth between Arizona and her father’s native country, Brazil. She began to train by the age of three and practicing with her father and stepmother who is also a black belt, Luciana Tavares.
Mackenzie Dern: MMA record
Dern fought under Legacy Fighting Alliance with a record of 4-0 before signing with Invicta Fighting Championship (Invicta) in November 2017.
The American made her Invicta debut on December 8, 2017, at Invicta FC 26: Maia vs. Niedzwiedz against Kaline Medeiros. She won the fight via an armbar in round three.

She made her promotional debut against Ashley Yoder on March 3, 2018, at UFC 222, winning via split decision.
After a hiatus from maternity leave, she faced Amanda Ribas on October 12, 2019 at UFC on ESPN+ 19. She lost the fight via unanimous decision, which is her only loss to date.
She boasts a record of 8-1-0.

Mackenzie Dern’s first fight as a black belt came in the shape of a superfight against a seasoned veteran of the sport, Luiza Monteiro, at the Copa Podio in January 2013, a fight Mackenzie won, moving on to fight at the European Open just a few weeks later, winning her weight division and cementing her name as one of the top featherweight black belts in the world.
