It has been often noted how the stars switch their gimmicks to elevate the storyline. Some switch to their old persona which is more lethal and adds a layer to the feud they are involved in. Most recently, Chris Jericho fought a match against Nick Gage with his ‘Painmaker’ persona while in WWE, Finn Balor seemingly bringing his ‘Demon’ gimmick to feud with Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Cody Rhodes had last wrestled at August 4th edition of AEW Dynamite: Homecoming, where he shockingly lost a squash match to Malakai Black. Since then, he has been on a hiatus to focus on other projects and he had also teased his retirement.

Now, apparently Cody is making the air fresh by bringing an old persona from WWE. ‘The American Nightmare’ took to Instagram, and shared a picture of himself in the “Stardust” gimmick from his time in WWE. The former TNT Champion put up the post without writing any caption, leaving fans to interpret.

Cody had a fine stint in WWE under his “Stardust” persona. But, WWE not allowing him to give up the gimmick was a major reason he had decided to part ways with the company in 2016. There is always a possibility he could bring back the gimmick in AEW.

Cody Rhodes could return soon

Reportedly, Cody Rhodes could be back soon this month. The report also stated there are some big plans in store for the former TNT Champion upon his return.

He could also return as early as this week on AEW Dynamite as his nemesis, Malakai Black, will take on his brother Dustin Rhodes. This could lead to great programming that could see the return of Cody to AEW. We will have to see when he makes his return.
