Former WWE Champion CM Punk has noted the reigning WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns as the best performer of the professional wrestling promotion at the moment, and that too, easily.

Throughout his career, the Roman Reigns character has faced the wrath of the fans for being overpushed. Nevertheless, after the return, heel turn and association with Paul Heyman, the character has found a newfound love from the fans.
Punk heaped praise on “The Head On The Table” saying that if WWE is doing one correct thing at the moment, it is at their presentation of the Roman Reigns character. According to Punk, Reigns’ character work is great and his performances in the middle of the squared circle matches the greatness of the character work.
“A lot of the times the best stuff you also just got to go with the flow with it. I’ll use Roman Reigns as an example because if we’re talking about good stuff, if the WWE does anything good, this is the one thing they’re doing right right now is Roman Reigns. His character work, his in-ring stuff, it’s all great,” the former WWE Champion opined.
HOWEVER, HE HAD SOME CRITICISM READY FOR WWE
However, the praise for his old employers was not complete. Punk mentioned that Reigns’ acclaimed succeess feels like classic WWE, who wasted half-a-decade or probably more to finally get Reigns over. WWE tried everything in their capacity to get “The Big Dog” over with the fans, including setting him up for multiple WrestleMania main events, but it was only after his heel turn that the multi-time World Champion was experiencing the moments that made a professional wrestling career special.
“But I feel like classic WWE, they’re always 5 years, 10 years late. This is something that they should’ve done originally because they tried so hard to get this guy over as a baby face and they gave him x amount of main events and said this is the guy, this is the guy and he never really had his moments until now,” he said.
He then reiterated his praise of the Roman Reigns character, stating that he was a complete package and that the character was by far the best thing to be seen in WWE these days. Perhaps, the backlash and the adversity the character faced throughout his career was needed to make this success possible, but he felt that it was the first time in his career that Reigns was finally standing at the spot WWE always wanted to push him to. What they could not do in a number of years was possible only with the expenditure of a few minutes.
“What can you say bad about what Roman Reigns is doing right now? He’s far and away the best guy they have. When you talk about storylines, in-ring work and all that stuff, right now he’s the total package. For the first time in his career, and I’m not being mean to Roman Reigns, I just feel like he’s finally where they pushed him to be, it just took a minute,” Punk added.
