Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF), the charismatic and controversial star of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has been making waves in the wrestling world. With his contract set to expire in January 2024, rumors are swirling that he might jump ship to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Let’s explore the potential implications of such a move.

The Pros:

1. Dream Matches Await

His in-ring skills and mic work have garnered him a devoted fan base. In WWE, he could clash with some of the biggest names in the industry. Imagine MJF facing off against Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, or Finn Balor. These dream matches would undoubtedly be exceptional and could elevate both MJF and his opponents.

2. Exposure for MJF on a Grand Stage

WWE’s global reach is unmatched. A move to WWE would put the former AEW World Champion in front of millions of viewers worldwide. His charisma and heel persona could resonate with a broader audience, potentially catapulting him to superstardom.

3. Championship Opportunities

WWE offers a plethora of titles, from the Universal Championship to the Intercontinental Championship. MJF’s talent and character could position him as a top contender for these prestigious belts. Winning a WWE championship would solidify his legacy.

The Cons:

1. Creative Freedom at Risk

AEW prides itself on giving wrestlers creative freedom. His edgy promos and unique character have thrived under this approach. In WWE, scripted promos are the norm, limiting individual expression. MJF’s sharp wit and biting commentary might lose their edge if he’s handed a script.

2. AEW’s Pillar Departure

MJF is considered one of AEW’s “Four Pillars,” alongside Hangman Adam Page, Jungle Boy, and Darby Allin. These young talents represent the future of AEW. If MJF leaves, it would be challenging for AEW to find a replacement with his aura and skill set. His absence would alter the company’s landscape.

3. WWE’s Track Record

WWE has a history of mishandling talent from other promotions. Some stars thrive, while others flounder due to poor booking or character changes. His unique persona might not fit WWE’s mold, leading to missed opportunities.

Ultimately, the decision rests with MJF. If he values creative freedom and loyalty to AEW, he may stay put. However, the allure of WWE’s grandeur and championship gold could prove irresistible. As fans, we can only wait and watch—anticipating whether MJF will make a splash in the Royal Rumble or continue to be the Salt of the Earth in AEW.

When professional wrestlers and mascots cross paths, the outcome frequently becomes a tad uncomfortable for the latter. On the February 10th, 2024 installment of AEW Collision, Vegas Golden Knights costumed mascot Chance received a harsh education.

CHANCE WAS TAKEN DOWN BY BRIAN CAGE

In the third match of Collision, Brian Cage took on Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd, also known as The Outrunners. In what essentially was a walk in the park for Cage, he completely destroyed the duo, ending the match with a powerbomb on Turbo. Prince Nana, as usual, was present at ringside.

After the match, Nana tried to celebrate the victory with his trademark dance, joined by a man portraying Chance, the mascot of the National Hockey League (NHL) side Vegas Golden Knights. Cage initially applauded the performance, only to attack Chance from behind, knocking him to the ground in the process. The audience in Henderson, Nevada, a city close to Las Vegas, jeered the attack, as did the commentators.

ORANGE CASSIDY AND TOMOHIRO ISHII MAIN EVENTED AEW COLLISION

Elsewhere in AEW Collision, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli of the Blackpool Combat Club defeated Star Jr and Esfinge, who represented CMLL, in a competitive contest. CMLL, the oldest active professional wrestling promotion in the world, and one of Lucha Libre’s big two, alongside the breakway promotion AAA, has recently been a recurring presence on AEW shows.

The main event of Collision saw Orange Cassidy defending his AEW International Championship against “The Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii. While Ishii certainly put Cassidy’s second reign into jeopardy multiple times into the match, the Champion was able to roll the challenger up for the pinfall victory. The Undisputed Kingdom attacked Cassidy after his defence, but Ishii and Trent came to his rescue.

In the aftermath of the February 7th episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW President Tony Khan was seen checking up on wrestling icon Sting. The show featured a tag team title match where Sting and Darby Allin successfully secured the AEW World Tag Titles against Ricky Starks and Big Bill. However, the celebratory atmosphere took a turn when The Young Bucks ambushed the newly crowned champions and unleashed a brutal assault.

Despite Darby Allin being busted open and Sting falling victim to the attack, the assault continued. The audience expressed their disapproval through boos as the show concluded. Following the televised portion of the event, Tony Khan was observed checking on Sting, even sharing a hug with him while he lay in the ring recovering from The Young Bucks’ assault.

Fans react to Tony Khan’s gesture; Sting’s retirement match at AEW Revolution in the making

The fans’ reactions varied, with some praising Khan’s caring demeanor toward wrestlers, while others criticized it as bizarre and unprofessional. Comparisons were drawn between Khan and Vince McMahon, with mixed opinions. Some found humor in the situation, noting the wrestler’s reaction and Tony’s awkward hug technique.

Sting has been a significant presence in AEW since his debut in December 2020. The 64-year-old legendary wrestler is set to retire at AEW Revolution later in the year. The retirement tour is described as being in full swing, with fans cherishing the time they have left with “The Icon.” The Young Bucks’ ambush sets the stage for a future AEW World Tag Team Championship match, where they are expected to challenge for the belt at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view in March.

A couple of weeks ago, Darby Allin proposed to Sting the idea of ending his career as one-half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions. This led to a tornado tag team title match on the recent AEW Dynamite, where they challenged and eventually defeated AEW World Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks and Big Bill. Sting executed a daring drop from high above the ring, surviving Starks’ own Scorpion Death Drop attempt. Ultimately, Darby’s Coffin Drop on Big Bill and Sting’s Scorpion Death Lock on Starks secured the victory, making them champions in AEW.

The match will mark the ending of the iconic Sting and the fans will get to see if the legend goes out as a champion or loses in his final match.

AEW superstar Saraya has spent most of her career in the WWE under the ring name Paige. She was recently seen practicing her wrestling moves on the Phoenix Suns’ mascot gorilla during their recent game.

She had an excellent career at the WWE where she became a trailblazer. After she took her retirement from wrestling, Saraya continued to work for the WWE.

Saraya did a variety of roles in the company before the WWE let her go. The former Paige has also starred in several movies like Santa’s Little Helper in 2015 and Fighting with My Family in 2019, where she shared the screen with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. She is also hailed by many as one of the pioneers of women’s Pro Wrestling and one of the best women wrestlers in WWE’s history.

Though former AEW Women’s World Champion’s best days are behind her, she still knows how to get the limelight on her. A recent video was uploaded of Saraya where she was seen hitting the Phoenix Sun’s mascot with a suplex in an NBA game. Saraya Bevis was present at the game as a special guest along with Justin Roberts. The Mascot was later seen posing for a pic with Sanaya confirming the the fact that it was all done in a playful mood.

Fans react to Saraya’s video

Fans were amused by the video and spoke their minds on X (previously Twitter).

“One cannot help but wonder if the individual concealed within the Phoenix Suns mascot outfit was, in fact, Adam Cole.” one Twitter user commented.

Saraya has always come up with creative ways to entertain her fans. She always gets involved in this type of playful and joyous moments but many fans label this as her effort to stay in the spotlight and be relevant in the entertainment industry.

The current AEW World Champion hails from Plainview, New York. He made a name for himself in the Indies before joining All Elite Wrestling. He made his wrestling debut in Combat Zone Wrestling back in 2015 and then had a short run with Major League Wrestling in 2017. He made an appearance in WWE’s NXT in 2016 and finally ended up inking a deal with AEW in 2019. The current ROH Tag Team Champion remains to be one of the biggest superstars of the promotion, sitting at the top of his division.

MJF trained at the Create a Pro Wrestling academy back in the day and met the likes of The Acclaimed’s Max Caster and current TBS Champion Kris Statlander, who have also made their mark in AEW. The academy is ran by AEW producer Pat Buck and former WWE star Brian Myers. MJF’s last in-ring appearance for the promotion was back in 2019.

MJF surprises the fans

Recently, the AEW World Champion was once again spotted at an event by Create a Pro Wrestling Academy, Frostbite 2. A video clip of his appearance surfaced online as the Create A Pro Wrestling Academy Twitter profile shared it.

This is not the first time he has made his comeback to the New York-based wrestling academy. Back in May, ‘The Salt of The Earth’ had also returned to the academy.

MJF will defend his AEW World title against Samo Joe

MJF is currently involved in a feud with Samoa Joe. An interesting angle is also being played out where The Devil remains to be a thorn in his side for months now. The true identity of The Devil is yet to be revealed. The AEW World Champion has had an incredible year and he will be eyeing to finish the year on a high note. He will put his AEW World title on the line against Samoa Joe at AEW’s final pay-per-view of the year, Worlds End on December 30.

We will have to wait and see if MJF can retain the title and head into the new year as champion.

NJPW star Kazuchika Okada recently dropped some hints about his time in the wrestling ring coming to an end soon.

With seven championship victories for New Japan Pro Wrestling, Kazuchika Okada is unquestionably one of the biggest names in the industry. Okada has also made eight appearances in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom, which is the company’s largest event of the year.

Speaking to Number Web, during a discussion of NJPW founder Antonio Inoki, Kazuchika Okada said he wished he had more time in his own wrestling career to assist the organization Inoki started to reach greater success than it did under his leadership:

“I know people might say, ‘It’s impossible to surpass Mr. Inoki,’ but I think the only way to do it is to make pro wrestling more exciting. First of all, I would like to bring the attendance back to the level where it was at the time of Mr. Inoki’s Tokyo Dome, and then I would like to promote pro wrestling in a different way, since there are now video distribution services on the internet and so on.

“In the past, Mr. Inoki also focused on overseas strategies and tried to bring New Japan wrestling to the world, but times have changed and there are many New Japan fans overseas through the internet, so I would like to exceed what Mr. Inoki did in this way. I don’t think I have that much time left in my career, so I want to do my best.”

Samoa Joe comments on MJF

Speaking with The New York Post ahead of his AEW World Championship match Samoa Joe shed light on whether he felt they had to “get to” addressing the viral clip of Joe shoving MJF in a hallway at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 2016.

“I don’t think we necessarily had to get to it through that meme or avenue because I think he’s a very talented individual, much like myself,” Joe said. “We have an innate ability to go out and pick a fight no matter what the circumstances are. It obviously was something that stuck out in a lot of peoples’ minds. I knew for a lot of people it was a funny iconic moment. Why fight the flow?”

Joe said that he shoved a younger MJF into the wall as he was doing “too good” of a job. Years passed by since the incident and Joe wants to see what MJF is made of in the ring.

“I think he’s at a point in his career now where he needs to find out how he stacks up against the most terrifying and most inopportune situations and I think I present that to him. We’ll see how he does,” Samoa Joe added.

“The Samoan Submission Machine” has vowed to make an example out of MJF similar to what he did to MJF’s tag team partner Adam Cole.

“This is very much about examples being to be made,” Joe said. “I made an example of Adam Cole. I’m looking forward to making an example of MJF in front of his friends and family. I think it’s the best place to make an example where the people who care about him the most will see. I’m looking forward to going in there, walking him down, crushing him completely and taking all the big championships. Maybe having a big celebration afterward, maybe grab a slice. I don’t know.”

We will have to see if Samoa Joe manages to dethroned MJF at AEW Grand Slam.

NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston recently sent out a message for his opponent and arch-rival ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli. Kingston made it clear that he will give his all in his battle against his rival at tonight’s AEW Grand Slam.

Hailing from New York, Eddie Kingston will be the hometown hero at Wednesday’s show. He will defend his NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship on the line against ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli in a Winner Takes All Title vs. Title match.

Eddie Kingston doesn’t respect Claudio Castagnoli

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Kingston talked about his upcoming battle against the Swiss superstar. While he has mentioned time to time, he once again stated that he doesn’t respect Castagnoli. He also highlighted the fact that he will give everything in order to fight Claudio.

“I don’t respect anything about Claudio,” Eddie Kingston said. “I don’t even respect that Claudio is a great wrestler, even though he is. As a person, I think he’s garbage. I don’t give a f— what he has to say. Talk is cheap. Let’s let our actions do the talking.

“This is not a business to me. I’m not wearing a fancy suit to work like him. This is not just a paycheck for me. If it was, I’d be working somewhere else as a coach. This is my life. I am a wrestler, and I’m going to fight with my heart and soul. If you’re going to beat me in New York, you’re going to have to kill me. Claudio is going to have to put me down for a lot longer than three seconds.”

AEW Dynamite Grand Slam is set to take place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City tonight.

AEW star Jake Hager recently decided to announce his retirement from MMA and focus on his pro wrestling career.

Formerly known as Jack Swagger, he departed WWE back in 2017. Jake Hager decided to try his luck in MMA and eventually joined the Bellator promotion. In the years following his signing to Bellator, Hager amassed a 3-0-1 record.

It has been noted that Hager hasn’t fought there since October 2020 nad he previously stated that he was scheduled to compete in another MMA bout in October last year. However, fans noted that several months passed and he didn’t provide any specific update.

Jake Hager officially retires

During a virtual signing for K&S WrestleFest, Jake Hager confirmed his retirement from MMA. “Officially, I’m retired from MMA. I trained hard last year, but Bellator was jerking me off, so I retired and I’m focusing on wrestling now,” Hager said.

While he was busy with Bellator, Hager also focused on maintaining a balance in his wrestling career. He went on to strike a deal with All Elite Wrestling in 2019. It was quite a jump as he arrived to AEW. Hager joined The Inner Circle led by the veteran superstar Chris Jericho. He also joined Jericho Appreciation Society but last month, the Jericho-led faction split. Since then Hager has competed in only one match.

We will have to wait and see what’s next for Jake Hager in AEW.

AEW President Tony Khan recently talked about the rumors of former TBS Champion Jade Cargill’s departure from AEW. Cargill is reportedly WWE bound and is expected to begin training the Performer Center in Orlando, FL as early as this week.

Cargill has been one of the most dominant female performers of AEW’s Women’s Division. She made her pro wrestling debut back in March 2021 when she teamed up with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. She had an iconic 508-day reign as the TBS Champion.

Jade Cargill recently made her return to AEW programming and during the September 14 edition of AEW Dynamite, it was announced that the former TBS Champion would be challenging Kris Statlander for the TBS Title on the September 16 edition of AEW Rampage.

Kris Statlander was successful in retaining the TBS Championship. It marked Cargill’s final appearance for AEW and her profile was also removed from AEW’s website.

In an interview with Josh Martinez for Superstar Crossover, Tony Khan was asked to comment on the rumors surrounding Jade Cargill.

“Jade had a great match on Friday night on AEW Rampage. It was a great match against Kris Statlander,” Tony Khan said. “Kris Statlander retained the TBS Championship on Rampage on Friday night. I thought that was a great match. Definitely one of the best matches I’ve seen either of them have. I thought it was a great main event for the show.

“As far as Jade goes, I can’t really comment on that, except to say that Jade’s been a great wrestler for AEW, and certainly always welcome in AEW. [She] could always be somebody we would always love to work with here in AEW.
