WBC and WBA (Super) super middleweight champion of the world Canelo Álvarez marked his 55th career victory with a successful title defense against Avni Yıldırım, thrashing the Turkish challenger in a swift three-round victory at the Hard Rock Stadium. However, a bizarre incident that took place after the fight has taken the social media by storm.
Get the f**k out of here: Canelo tells Jake Paul fans to get away from the ring
Since his stomping victory over in a boxing match against former NBA star Nate Robinson, Jake Paul has been igniting verbal heats at other boxers and MMA fighters, especially Conor McGregor.
The YouTuber-cum-boxer, who is slated to take on former UFC fighter Ben Askren in a sparring contest in April this year, has the backing of a huge fanbase, and a couple of his supporters wanted to take the perfect opportunity to promote Jake as Canelo earned a daunting win over Yıldırım
During the post-game interview in the squared circle, two Jake Paul fans had crawled behind Canelo as he was reliving another glorious moment of his boxing career. The fans were donning black tees with Jake’s face and were standing behind Canelo’s translator, proudly donning the face of their idol on their shirts.
While Jake, who is 2-0 in his sparring career, may have fanbases on the internet, to someone like Canelo it was utterly disrespectful, and the Mexican did not hesitate to say “get the f**k out of here” as the two marched away from the ring, and followed up with a quieter “f**kers”.
Twitter user @andresxmata posted a short clip of the same, which has went viral among the online boxing fans since after the fight. Check it out below-
While Jake Paul, along with his brother Logan, have been making headlines in the boxing media, with the latter even earning a chance to spar against Floyd Mayweather for an exhibition match, they are nothing to impressive for the number one pound for pound boxer in the world.
“I don’t think we would agree that people that are basketball players, that are YouTubers get licenses,” Canelo had said back in December last year, “This is a very risky sport, and if you go up there, it’s very risky.”
