WBC, WBA (Super), and WBO super middleweight champion of the world Canelo Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) has finally responded to the multiple call-outs from WBC middleweight titleholder Jermall Charlo, thumbing up to a future fight.
The number one pound for pound boxer in the world at this moment, Canelo is just one fight away from achieving undisputed status at 168, and has been the target for many others near his weight class, including Jermall.

”It’s almost time for Jermall Charlo and Canelo Alvarez to fight”
Following his recent unanimous decision victory over Juan Macias Montiel on 19th June at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, which also marked his fourth WBC title defense, Jermall called out Canelo once again to come to Houston and square off against him at 160 rather than 168.
“I want to get Canelo to come to Houston if he comes down to 160,” Charlo said after the Montiel fight, “This is my weight division. I’m going to stay here and reign here.”
“This is my fourth title defense, and I have many more to come. I’m young. I’m hungry.”

While its unlikely that Canelo will return to middleweight just to fight “Future of Boxing”, as he recently hinted to remain at 168 even after achieving undisputed status, Canelo ahs reportedly nodded to facing Jermall in future, but only after he faces IBF titleholder Caleb Plant later this year.
“Jermall Charlo’s time is coming. I’m focused on Caleb Plant first,” reports suggest Canelo has said thumbed up to the fight, ”It’s almost time for Jermall Charlo and Canelo Alvarez to fight (H/T BoxingNews24)
Canelo thrashed Billy Joe Saunders on 8th May to clinch the Briton’s WBO belt and the four belt undisputed championship fight against Plant is being targeted in September.
However, Plant himself recently demanded north of $10 million from the fight, which is something Canelo is unlikely to agree to. So in case “Sweethands” doesn’t come to terms to the actual payout from the fight that is estimated to be in the region of $5-6 million, the fight will be pushed back and the Jermall Charlo fight can take its place.
