Candice Michelle, the former WWE star recently joined Wrestling Inc. Managing Editor Nick Hausman on an episode of The Wrestling Inc. Daily. She spoke about entering into the wrestling business after spending years modelling and acting.
Candice Michelle reveals how she dealt with coming from a non-wrestling background
Candice Michelle had joined WWE in 2004 after she had participated in WWE Diva Search. Previously she had a career in acting and modelling and had a fine run in WWE after she joined the company.
During the interview she reflected on her jouney from being an actor/model to becoming a WWE star. She also spoke about the stuggles she faced during the transition and eventually becoming the WWE Women’s Champion. Michelle said that she ‘was hired as eye candy’ but she found herself to be different.
Candice Michelle said: I’m an athlete. I was going to college for basketball. I was a kickboxer. I did all this stuff, and I was acting. This is my dream job, not to mention I grew up on wrestling.”
She was determined to be the next WWE Women’s Champion while others could not see her potential as a star. She recollected turning up at the shows early to learn the business and the moves of the game as she came from a non-wrestling background.
She said: “I had to learn everything on the road, and so the only way I thought that I could learn was if I show up early. And then people started to see that I was really putting in the work. I’d come home to LA.”
Candice Michelle recalled renting a wrestling ring and train hard to becoming a top star of the company. She was eventually joined by former WWE stars The Big Show and Umaga to train and motivate her as well.
She is regarded as GoDaddy girl and was asked if she need WWE’s permission to pursue opportunities like GoDaddy. She went onto revealed a unique clause in her contract as the contract was different because of Hollywood background that allowed her to do outside projects without asking for WWE’s approval.
She said: “My website was off-limits and certain things on there were off limits that they weren’t allowed to take away from me or have control over, and GoDaddy just happened to be one of those.”
At Vengeance in 2007, she had defeated Melina to win her first WWE Women’s Championship. She was released from her WWE contract on June 19, 2009.She made a return to WWE on the Raw Reunion edition in 2019 and became the second woman to win the WWE 24/7 Championship.
