As per the reports, Brendan Vink could be paying homage to Tony Modra, who was his childhood hero and also an icon in the Australian Football League [AFL]. Tony Modra was a renowned figure in Vink’s hometown, Adelaide, Australia.
Vink had first stepped foot inside the ring in 2008 and used the ring name, Elliot Sexton. He had also wrestled in New Japan Pro Wrestling ( NJPW) and British based PROGRESS Wrestling.
He joined WWE’s gold and black brand and performed in house shows. In his debut match he defeated Nick Comoroto. He then carried on working in the house shows for few months.
Vink had teamed up alongside his former tag-team partner Shane Thorne, who goes by the name,Slapjack in RETRIBUTION. They faced teams such as Street Profits and Cedric Alexander and Ricochet but all in losing efforts.
Vink and Thorne were introduced as MVP’s new associates and they emerged victorious against the team of Cedric Alexander and Ricochet marking their first win in WWE.
Their team was traded to NXT but Thorne, now known as Slapjack joined RETRIBUTION and is signed to the red brand while Vink will be making his way to NXT with his new name, Tony Modra.
He has won the AWA Heavyweight Championship in Australian Wrestling Allstars, MCW Heavyweight Championship Melbourne City Wrestling and WrestleRock Championship in WrestleRock promotion. He has held all the titles once each.
