Booker T, the WWE Hall of Famer recently opened up on the potential match that could take place between Roman Reigns and The Rock at WrestleMania 37. However, he believes younger talents should be given the opportunity.
Booker T chooses Big E instead of The Rock
During Booker T’s Hall of Fame podcast, he gave his views regarding the potential bout between the current WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns and his cousin, The Rock.
He believes that is a huge match on the card but someone who is also worthy of the big bout is Big E instead of The Rock.
We have seen several stars ending their career at the Grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania. Booker T was given the idea by his co-host, Brad Gilmore about the Rock putting his career on the line at the event, should he face ‘The Tribal Chief’.
The Hall of Famer loved the idea and said, “You know what, that right there, that would be money across the board. People will buy it just because the story is there.”
Booker T talked about the build-up to the match between Reigns and The Rock, something like a bout to prove who is the real Tribal Chief would be a great storyline. With The Rock on the cards, it will automatically increase the revenue while fans will enjoy the return of ‘The Great One’.
He said, “When a guy like The Rock comes back, revenue goes up. You should embrace that more than anything, so yeah I could see that match happening. It will be a great storyline – Tribal Chief vs Tribal Chief – who’s gonna walk away, and the thing is, it will be great. That will be a great buildup.”
However, Booker T would prefer Big E taking the spot of The Rock. He talked about passing the torch to the young talents who are the future of the company.
He explained, “But, if we’re thinking about what I’m always thinking about – the young guys and the next generation – Big E, that could be a huge push for Big E, for the next generation and the future of the WWE.”
Words had started floating about Big E getting a huge push on the main roster after he parted ways with The New Day and was put in the singles competition. WrestleMania is six months away and it is to be seen how WWE builds up the storyline with Roman Reigns.
