Barcelona are currently going through rough patches. They were humiliated and thrashed  8-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Just when fans thought it cannot get any worse than this, Lionel Messi who has been at the club for 20 long years has now asked to depart from the club.

Barcelona fans are agitated amid the news of Lionel Messi leaving the club. He has activated the release clause which expired in June that would let him leave for free transfer. However, the Argentine believes it can still be applied but it seems the buyout clause stands for £630 million.

Lionel Messi still has a year left on his contract but he wants his way out of Camp Nou. Situation has started to aggravate for both, the club and its fans.

Angry fans started to gather outside Camp Nou to protest against the situation. They don’t want their hero, Lionel Messi to leave the club. Instead they want the club President, Josep Maria Bartomeu to resign. Board members Jordi Moix, the economics and assets vice president, and treasurer David Bellver have already offered their resignation.

The fans looked desperate at the scene as they want Lionel Messi to stay put at Barcelona. They were infuriated as they started to show offensive gestures aimed at stadium which were actually meant for President Bartomeu. They supported Lionel Messi and held up replica jersey of ‘Messi 10’.

The 33 year old Argentine is furious with the decision of the newly appointed manager, Ronald Koeman. Reportedly, the Barcelona boss has decided Messi’s teammate Luis Suarez to be sold in the summer transfer window. Thereby, he has asked to leave as well.

Barcelona legend, Carlos Puyol backed up the decision of the Argentine and tweeted, “Respect and admiration, Leo. All my support, friend.”

Luis Suarez replied his tweet with two emojis of clapping hands.

Fans also chanted,“Bartomeu, dimissió,” which means, “Bartomeu, dismissed.”

Some other fans sang, “Please Messi don’t leave, we all love you here.”

Even the fans took to Twitter and expressed their anger.
