Tyson Fury, the reigning WBC Heavyweight champion of the world recently called it a career, but Anthony Joshua is steadfast that the combat sports is yet to see Fury’s final days in the squared circle, as he believes he can bring “The Gypsy King” out of retirement.
Fury’s not thought of his life after boxing: Anthony Joshua
After a decorated undefeated carer, Tyson Fury officially announced his retirement on 12th August, right on his 34th birthday. Since his dominating 6th round TKO victory over Dillian Whyte on 23rd April, Fury had made multiple hints about calling it quits, but was also calling for a trilogy fight against Derek Chisora for a trilogy fight. However, the Briton finally put an end to the speculations through social media.
“Massive thanks to everyone who had an input in my career over the years & after long hard conversations I’ve finally decided to walk away & on my 34th birthday I say Bon voyage,” Fury posted across his social media platforms.
However Anthony Joshua, the former unified world champion who was in conversations for an undisputed clash against Fury before his setback to Oleksandr Usyk last year, believes that its not the end of Fury’s career, pointing out that his compatriot has no concrete retirement plans ahead.
“Yeah, I can bring him out of retirement, a hundred percent,” Joshua said during a conference call on Wednesday, “I think he’ll bring himself out of retirement. You know what I’m saying? I think he’ll bring himself out of retirement, sh!t. There’s nothing for him to do and I think he’s not thought of his life after boxing.”
“So, I think he’s pretty bored. You end up getting a dog, getting a Ferrari, like to keep yourself busy. There’s not much else to do except for walk your dog now. So yeah, I think he will come out of retirement soon,” AJ added. [H/T Boxingscene.com]
Joshua will be back in the ring this 20th of August as he takes on Usyk for the rematch in an attempt to regain his belts. If he walks out victorious in the rematch, and Fury does revert his decision, talks about that undisputed title fight may soon gain some pace.
