Tyson Fury, the undefeated professional boxing legend and the reigning WBC Heavyweight champion of the world, has officially come up with the announcement of his retirement, right on his 34th birthday.
Since his dominating 6th round TKO victory over Dillian Whyte on 23rd April, Tyson Fury had been engaged in conversations regarding his retirement, although, never had given a solid statement on whether he wanted to continue his career in the ring or call it quits.
The WBC themselves had nodded to be patient on their heavyweight champ’s decision, as was the entire combat sports fandom. Even though he recently called out Derek Chisora for a trilogy fight, “The Gypsy King” has now confirmed his retirement.
“Massive thanks to everyone who had an input in my career over the years & after long hard conversations I’ve finally decided to walk away & on my 34th birthday I say Bon voyage,” Fury posted across his social media platforms.
Adding to his post, the Briton credited a number of people to have made his career a special one, including his father John Fury, Queensberry Promotions chief Frank Warren, trainer SugarHill Steward, and also credited his wife Paris Fury for being the one “Who helped me more than anyone”. He also added a photo of himself along with Steward.

“I just had a beautiful video conference with Tyson Fury on his 34th birthday,” said WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman in a video on Twitter, “Very proud of him. He has confirmed retirement, to go out as a champion, as a family man with money with a great future. That’s a dream of anyone involved in boxing. We want to wish Tyson Fury the best. May God bless him all the time. He’s a great, great inspiration.”
