The Los Angeles Lakers have made a bold move by hiring JJ Redick as their new head coach. The former NBA sharpshooter, known for his deadly accuracy from beyond the arc, will now be drawing up plays and leading the team from the sidelines.
The Lakers are reportedly considering creating a mobile application specifically designed for JJ Redick, a veteran sharpshooter and current Lakers assistant coach, to share his knowledge and strategies with players according to reports.

A First-Time Head Coach
Redick’s appointment marks his first NBA coaching job of any kind. The Lakers’ decision to bring him on board reflects their confidence in his basketball IQ and ability to connect with players. Rob Pelinka, head of basketball operations, believes that surrounding Redick with an experienced staff will help shorten the learning curve for the first-time head coach.
JJ Redick’s Background
Redick played 15 seasons in the NBA, including four seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. His connections to the LA area and preexisting relationship with LeBron James likely worked in his favor during the hiring process. Notably, Redick co-hosts a podcast with LeBron, which may have contributed to their familiarity.
Assembling a Coaching Staff
Redick has already begun assembling his coaching staff. Celtics assistant coach Sam Cassell is a name to watch for an assistant job on Redick’s staff. Cassell was among the candidates who interviewed for the Lakers’ head coaching position.
