Cristiano Ronaldo has been on the goal-scoring charts ever since his high profile switch to Juventus from Real Madrid. However, the Portuguese’s style has evolved over the years including his long-range strikes which have been rather subdued as of late.
While emerging into the scene, Ronaldo’s flair was unparalleled. A style comprising of audacious skills, shooting at will earned plaudits from fans and critics alike. With age catching up on Ronaldo, while the magic is still there, the reverberation is less frequent.
Having scored a number of sensational long-range strikes, one of them which earned him a Puskas award, Ronaldo opted to dish out one at a time it mattered the most.
Juventus after already trailing against Lyon from the first leg by 1-0 had a horrid start at the Allianz Stadium. An early controversial penalty was tucked in Memphis Depay with a nerveless panenka.
The equation for the side got complicated as they needed three goals to qualify courtesy of their first leg mishap and Lyon’s away goal.
Ronaldo managed to pull the Serie A champions back into the contest with a penalty of his own to keep them alive.
The former Real Madrid ace continued to step up for the team when it mattered the most after helping them get the lead with a sumptuous strike. Collecting the ball from Bernardeschi about 30 yards out, Ronaldo brandished a rocket of a strike with his weak foot to beat Anthony Lopez in goal.

Ronaldo’s European plight with Juventus continues
Cristiano Ronaldo failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2010. Back then as well, it was Lyon who had crushed the quarter-final dream.
Despite settling the tie on aggregate by the hour mark, Juventus were agonizingly unable to net the winning strike to send them into the next stage.
The Serie A champions were able to win the league by a single point but they failed to deliver in the other competitions. Juventus bowed out to Napoli in the Coppa Italia final on penalties while their European dream ended in the Round of 16 stage itself.
Maurizio Sarri and the players will now be under the microscope as the club officials’ efforts to find European glory keeps resulting in heartbreak.
