WWE might have done some changes regarding next year’s WrestleMania. Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that WWE had plans to set the main event, headlining “The Viper” Randy Orton and WWE Hall of Famer, Edge.

Major changes in WWE WrestleMania 37 main event

It is believed that WWE wanted to go forward with the Orton-Edge storyline. The match was supposed to be an “I Quit” match. Talks were there that Randy Orton would be going into the main event as the WWE Champion. However, now the plan seems to be uncertain and indecisive.

Randy Orton faced Drew McIntyre with the WWE Championship on the line at WWE Summerslam pay-per-view. The Viper was defeated and the title was retained by Drew McIntyre.

Now, Randy Orton is set to clash with ‘The Limitless’ Keith Lee at WWE Payback pay-per-view this Sunday.

Randy Orton was to win the WWE Championship at Summerslam. Then Keith Lee would defeat him at Payback in a non-title match. Thus, setting up a match between the two for the WWE Championship.

Randy Orton defeating Keith Lee and retaining the title would make him look stronger and would make sense for headlining next year’s WrestleMania. This was as predicted by Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

If not this, then WWE could have also planned a rematch between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton at Payback for Orton to pursue the title again. But now as Drew McIntyre injury angle is being used the plans might be a little different. This could eventually lead to set up a match at WWE Clash of Champions event.

Randy Orton has been a household name for WWE and the top face of the company. You never know what WWE have up their sleeves. Keith Lee should go over Randy Orton at Payback. Keith Lee who is the newcomer to the main roster should make a strong mark upon his debut.

Edge was last seen at WWE Backlash when Randy Orton challenged him for a rematch from their WrestleMania bout but this time to a traditional singles match.

This marked Edge’s first singles match in nine years. The Rated R Superstar was defeated. WWE later announced that he had suffered torn triceps. Edge is out because of the injury and would take four to eight months to recover.

It is to be seen how WWE plays with the storylines and what actually is to be witnessed at WrestleMania 37 main event.
