Randy Orton, it seems, is taking his ‘Legend Killer’ moniker very serious this time around. After knocking Ric Flair out with a Punt Kick last week at Monday Night Raw, this week he took his opportunity to attack Shawn Michaels with a RKO and a Punt Kick.
Earlier in the show, Michaels discussed the merits of WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, who will face Orton at WWE SummerSlam. Mr Wrestlemania also went on to discuss the recently attacked Ric Flair’s legacy and how he shaped the careers of Orton, McIntyre and countless other superstars in the WWE.
In the end of the show, The Apex Predator attacked The Heartbreak Kid with a RKO, following it up with a devastation Punt Kick. When WWE Champ McIntyre rushed in to check on his NXT mentor, The Viper tried to strike on him as well but McIntyre saw through an avoided a RKO attempt. In the end, while McIntyre busy checking on HBK again, he succeeded to take down McIntyre with a RKO.
Randy Orton is at his fiercest persona in his career
During his initial years in WWE, Orton’s gimmick was that of “the Legend Killer”, a young and cocky talent who disrespected and usually defeated several legends. In late 2007, in the midst of his second WWE Championship reign, his character changed to a more unstable and treacherous personality. He then adopted the nicknames of “the Viper” and “the Apex Predator” due to his untrustworthy, snake-like character. The current character of Orton is an amalgam of his Viper and Legend Killer traits.
The Multiple time WWE Champ’s current descent into villainy began at Royal Rumble, when he tried to attack and eliminate the returning Edge. Orton and Edge then went on to have a rivalry, where Orton attacked Hall of Famers Edge, his wife Beth Phoenix and his lifelong friend Christian to solidify himself as a destroyer of legends.
Randy Orton will face WWE Champion Drew McIntyre for the championship at Summerslam, and he sure has a mighty chance of winning the Championship from ‘The Scottish Psychopath’.
