During the first practice session (FP1), Williams driver Alex Albon had a crash. The extensive damage sustained by the car forced the team to withdraw the chassis for the remainder of the Grand Prix. The damaged chassis will be returned to the team’s headquarters at Grove for repair.
Unfortunately, Williams did not have a spare chassis available till Miami GP. As a result, they had to make a difficult decision. Since a third chassis was unavailable, they decided that the team would use the same chassis for Logan Sargeant which Alex Albon used in Australia.

Aftermath of the crash and impact on Williams
Here’s what happened: Sargeant ran wide at Turn 7, dipping two wheels onto the grass outside the circuit. The car broke traction, spun at high speed, and collided with the tire barrier. The impact was severe, affecting the suspension mounting points, but the chassis itself survived.
Team principal James Vowles confirmed that while the chassis is okay, other components like the suspension and gearbox suffered extensive damage. The team will work hard to repair the car in time for the next session, but it won’t be an easy task.
