Here’s why Mo Salah does Yoga to keep himself fit

Everyone knows Mo Salah as the gem winger of Liverpool, and one of the best players in the world today. However, one side of Salah that many would not know is that, the Egyptian footballer is an avid fan of yoga and uses it to keep himself fit.

Originating from ancient India, Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years as a method to achieve stillness of the mind, as well as detaching the witness-consciousness from the mind and mundane suffering. In the modern age, Yoga found its way into the western world and has been practiced as aposture-based physical fitness, stress-relief and relaxation technique.

I am a Yoga man: When Mo Salah revealed he is a regular yoga practitioner

Yoga benefits the mind and body and anyone can reap the benefits, including sportspersons, and someone like Salah who has to remain in peak physical form- the player was found out to be a regular Yoga practitioner back in April 2019.

On 14th April 2019, Liverpool had hosted Chelsea at the Anfield Stadium. After a stalemate first half, the hosts were treated with two back to back strikes from Sadio Mane, followed by Mo Salah in the 51st and 53rd minutes, respectively.

Soon after scoring his 25-yard missile past the then Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Salah celebrated the goal with a Yoga-style pose, which was an unusual sight for the spectators.

Following the match with ended with a 2-0 win for The Reds, Salah broke the ice about his celebration in the post match interview, revealing that he himself is a regular practitioner of Yoga.

“I am a yoga man! I do yoga and it just came into my mind,” said Salah,“Normally I shoot with the inside of my foot. But this one I decided, because it was far, to hit it with power. I was lucky the ball hit the net like that.” [H/T Egypt Today]

Liverpool, who were leading the table with 85 points at that time, would go on to finish second in the 2018-19 Premier League season, finishing a single point behind Manchester City who won the league with 98 points.
