Utah Jazz set history by becoming the fastest ever to hit 500 threes in a season

Utah Jazz became the fastest ever franchise to record 500 three-pointers in a season. They reached the landmark figure during their comprehensive 132-110 win over the Hornets.

Jazz were able to amass 500 three-pointers in just 31 games, out of 1290 attempts. Which leaves the three-point shooting percentage as 39 per cent.

Coming into the game against Charlotte Hornets six short of the 500-mark, they eclipsed the mark by scoring 13 three pointers out of a record 29 attempts in a half.

Joe Ingles and Jordan Clarkson recorded three three-pointers in the half with Royce O’Neale, Mike Conley and Georges Niang chipping in with two each.

Their onslaught continued into the second half as well. Leading by just 3 at the half-time break, Jazz nailed 15 three pointers in the second half out of 26 attempts, taking the overall match count to 28 triples in 55 attempts, thereby breaking the franchise record for the third time this season.

This marked the fifth instance that the franchise attempted 50 or more three pointers in a single game.

The 28 three pointers scored over the course of the game was distributed with Georges Niang (7), Joe Ingles (7), Jordan Clarkson (5), Mike Conley (4), Donovan Mitchell (3) and Royce O’Neale (2) making the shots.

Utah Jazz’ recent nine game winning streak was brought to an end by the LA Clippers and the franchise bounced back in style with a win over the Hornets.

While the game was even for the majority of the duration, Jazz ran away with it in the fourth quarter by scoring 41 points compared to Hornets’ 20.

They next face the struggling Lakers who are currently stretched into overtime against Washington Wizards.
