Pre-race favorite Kyle Larson, driving the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy, was running strong until disaster struck during Stage 1. Ross Chastain, behind the wheel of the No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet, made contact with Brennan Poole’s No. 15 Rick Ware Racing Ford. The impact sent Poole’s car sliding across the track, directly into the path of Larson’s car. The No. 5 Chevy suffered significant right-front damage as it slammed into the outside retaining wall in Turns 1 and 2.

Kyle Larson’s frustration was palpable. After the incident, he radioed his crew, asking, “Ross flat-out wrecked the lapper, right?” The team’s response was straightforward: “Yes, for no reason.” Larson’s hopes for a strong finish were dashed as he limped back to the garage for repairs. Despite returning to the race, he finished a disappointing 32nd, a staggering 41 laps behind the leader.
