The Undertaker, who is a wrestling icon recently joined WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin on The Broken Skull Sessions for the second time and the edition was named, ‘One More Round’. He discussed his appearance at UFC 121 to confront Brock Lesnar back in 2010.
The Undertaker reveals the reason for turning up at UFC 121
The Phenom is a great athlete inside the squared circle but many would have questioned about his skill if he had ever stepped foot in the octagon.
But, his appearance at UFC 121 certainly created a buzz about his potential work in the company and that too having a feud with the former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar.
At UFC 121, The Undertaker had an on-screen interview with the Canadian MMA journalist, Ariel Helwani after which people started speculating about his potential work with UFC.
However, during the podcast with Steve Austin, The Deadman revealed that he was there ‘to pick a fight’.
He said, “I was there to pick a fight. Yeah, [Lesnar] knew I was there, but my whole mindset there was to pick a fight and start a buzz, and I knew it wouldn’t take much. That was nothing. I mean, it was so simple, but it created such a buzz.”
Brock Lesnar had lost the championship to Cain Velasquez at the event. He then came to The Undertaker’s way following the defeat.
Thus, both the stars were interested in having a confrontation and The Deadman confirmed it as well. His shoot was incidentally planned and that had ignited a little tiff between the two.
The Undertaker said that the confrontation was ‘vaguely’ covered. He reflected on what went through his mind at the event.
He said, “I don’t think he thought he had very many fights left in him anyway and maybe he would transition back to the WWE. And my train of thought is he’s coming out of that world coming back into the WWE while I’m trying to position myself to be one of the first to get to him. He went out of his way to come my way, so I took advantage of the situation.”
To everyone’s shock, the Beast Incarnate had conquered the legendary streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30. This marked at one of the most stunning moments in WWE history.
