American actor and popular Netflix show Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has officially acquainted the fans with a heavily speculated topic- the sexuality of Will Byers, the character he plays in the show, and has revealed that Will is gay.
It was always kind of there: Noah Schnapp reveals his character Will Byers is gay
On Thursday, Noah Schnapp made the news public in an interview with Variety, and the 17-year-old actor said that endorsed Will’s erotic inclination and genuine tenderness for Mike Wheeler, played by Finn Wolfhard.
As per the first bunch of episodes in Stranger Things 4 a few indications appeared that Will Byers was gay and he shared feelings with lifelong best friend Mike. In Stranger Things Volume 2, it was clearly visible to the eyes of the audience that Will produced an intense speech to Mike regarding his concern for those that love him.
While talking about Stranger Things 4, Schnapp mentioned that there have been hints about Will’s sexuality and feelings about Mike from the very first season though the show didn’t utter it directly, now the actor himself has confirmed that speculation.
“Obviously, it was hinted at in season 1: It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends?” said Schnapp, “Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100 percent clear that he is gay and he does love Mike. But before, it was a slow arc.”
The actor stated that the character’s dilatory self-exploration built a surface of accessibility and practicality to the structure.
After the detachment at the end of Season 3, fans are curiously doubting about secret feelings Will had for Mike when both the friends were reunified at the happening of Stranger Things Season 4. Subsequently several peeks spotted the interests of fans and ultimately Mike broke down and opened his heart out in a scene that it firmly suggested was referring to his sexuality.
“I think it is done so beautifully, because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay. People have come up to me — I was just in Paris and this, like, 40-year-old man came up to me and he was like, ‘Wow, this Will character made me feel so good. And I related to it so much. That is exactly who I was when I was a kid.’ That just made me so happy to hear. They are writing this real character and this real journey and real struggle and they’re doing it so well,” added Schnapp. [H/T Popculture.com]
