These additions bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to Steve Kerr’s staff, potentially elevating the Warriors’ championship aspirations.
Terry Stotts: A Proven Track Record
Terry Stotts, known for his nine-year tenure with the Portland Trail Blazers, brings a wealth of experience to the Warriors. During his time in Portland, Stotts guided the team through both regular-season battles and playoff clashes. His coaching acumen, honed over more than 1,000 NBA games, will undoubtedly enhance the Warriors’ bench. Stotts previously served as head coach for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks, and he contributed to the Dallas Mavericks’ 2011 championship season as an assistant.
Jerry Stackhouse: From NBA Stardom to Coaching
Jerry Stackhouse, a former NBA All-Star, transitions from his playing days to the coaching realm. Stackhouse recently led Vanderbilt University’s basketball program, amassing a 70-92 record during his tenure. His understanding of the game, combined with his college coaching experience, makes him a valuable addition to Steve Kerr’s staff. Stackhouse has also worked as an assistant for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Toronto Raptors, as well as leading the Raptors 905 in the G League.
Replacing Kenny Atkinson
Terry Stotts steps into the role previously held by Kenny Atkinson, who played a pivotal part in the Warriors’ 2022 championship run. Atkinson’s success earned him a head coaching position with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now, Stotts aims to build upon that legacy, providing strategic insights and leadership alongside head coach Steve Kerr.
