After announcing his intention to leave the Premier League champions upon the culmination of his contract, the La Liga club were heavily involved in a deal to rope the striker.

The striker, who will take a massive pay cut to be a part of Barcelona’s project, was officially unveiled by the club after completing his medical.

Barcelona have also announced that Aguero will officially be a player for their club when his Manchester City contract expires on July 1. The player’s contract has a release clause of 86 million pounds as well.

The 32-year-old had a lean season by his standards with injuries and tactical reasons equally playing a role. He capped off his Premier League career with a brace off the bench against Everton to overtake Wayne Rooney for the most number of goals for a single club.

His final minutes in a City shirt came during the Champions League final where he was sent off the bench to bag an equalizer. However, Chelsea’s defiance stretched Aguero and the club’s wait for Champions League glory.

Aguero deems Barcelona as the best club in the world

Aguero is expected to play a crucial role for Barcelona as they hope to return to their former glory. The team have lost out on the La Liga title two years in a row now, and the knockout peril of the Champions League continues to haunt them.

Following the successful capture of Aguero, the club are in talks to rope in several more free agents. Eric Garcia, Georgino Wijnaldum, and Memphis Depay are all expected to sign in the coming weeks.

“We all know that Barcelona are the best club in the world so I think I made a great decision to be here and I hope to help the team,”

“Of course it is a step forward in my career and hopefully I can help the team win things. I want to play and help this squad, and if the team does it well, I will be happy individually,” Aguero said
