WBC Silver lightweight champion Ryan García has his 2021 fight schedule etched out loud and clear and the first boxer in his list is two-time lightweight world title challenger Luke Campbell, whom García claims will “get his ass whipped” against him in the ring.
Ryan García (20-0, 17 KOs) was last seen in action against Nicaraguan boxer Francisco Fonseca on 14th February this year at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, where he retained his WBC Silver belt via a quick first-round knockout.
Now after a break of almost nine months, the 22-year-old American is anticipating a daunting comeback to action next year, which will happen as early as 2nd January as García takes on his first adversary of 2021- Luke Campbell (20-3, 16 KOs).
All that being said, García oozes confidence to outplay the Briton as they take each other on for the vacant WBC interim lightweight title, at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas.
Ryan García is least worried about Luke Campbell’s “pitty-pat punches”
During the official announcement press conference of the fight, Ryan García hints complete domination over 33-year-old Campbell.
“Luke Campbell, it’s inevitable for him; he’s just going to get his ass whipped,” García said at the press conference, “I’m not worried about Luke. He has no challenges for me.”
“All he has are pitty-pat punches, amateur style punches. None of that is going to save him,” García added.

What’s next after Campbell? Ryan García names the “Tank”
All while pledging to surmount his opponent, in the ring, García also named the pugilist he aims to take on after Campbell, none other than the “Tank” Gervonta Davis (24-0, 23KOs).
“The moment he (Campbell) feels my shots, he’s going to start backing up. I’ll figure out from there and surgically beat him down,” García went on, “I’m going to punish him and then go on to fight Tank.”
Gervonta Davis clinched the WBA (Super) super featherweight belt on 31st October against Léo Santa Cruz via a 6th round KO at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, as well as retained his WBA (Regular) lightweight title.
Ahead of dethroning Davis next year, Campbell is just a mere obstacle in his path, in García’s own words: “He’s just the first one I’m going to punish. I cannot wait… I cannot WAIT to punish Luke Campbell.”
“I want to break his eye, I want to break his bones. I just want to punish everything about him,” García concluded.
