Cristiano Ronaldo may not be everyone’s favourite footballer, but the Portuguese superstar gets one thing right that wins everyone’s hearts- the way he treats his fans.
With the UEFA EURO 2020 currently underway and Portugal opening up their campaign with a stunning 3-0 thrashing of Hungary, courtesy of a brace from their captain, Ronaldo is the hot topic among the football fans on social media all over again.
EURO 2016 clip shows Ronaldo waiting on fan for a selfie
Meanwhile, an old video, which is presumably from the 2016 edition of the tournament, has resurfaced on Twitter. In the clip, Ronaldo, who is seen on the pitch after a match donning the Portugal jersey, is approached by a fan.
The fan, like anyone else, is trying to click a selfie with his idol but in such an adrenaline rushing moment, his mobile phone starts to malfunction before he can frame himself with the five time Ballon d’Or winner.
Remarkably, Ronaldo is seen calm and patient as he waits for his fan to fix his device with a hand on the guy’s shoulder, and is even seen stopping the security from escorting the fan out of the field.
After more than 20 seconds of waiting, the fan is finally able to get the selfie with CR7. Before he is finally taken off from the field by the security, the fan gets a hug from Ronaldo, who then walks off with a camera to his right.
The clip was shared on Twitter by sports writer Joe Pompliano, who captioned it with “This is awesome….not many global superstars would have the patience to wait 20+ seconds for a fan’s phone to work after a game.” Check it out below,
Since it went viral, the clip has clocked over 143.5K views, more than 7.4K likes, and over 500 retweets. While a number of netizens pointed out that the clip is not from the recent EURO tournament, many appreciated Ronaldo’s kind gesture towards the fan.
