WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been rumored to face his cousin and one of the greatest stars of WWE, The Rock down the road. ‘The Tribal Chief’ has seemingly dropped some major hints when and where the bout could take place.
Roman Reigns could face The Rock in 2023
WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns recently dropped a big hint that the long-rumored match between him and The Rock could take place at WrestleMania 39 which is scheduled to take place in 2023.
The Rock and Reigns both belong to the great Anoaʻi family and a match between them could certainly help ‘The Head of The Table’ cement his legacy in WWE. They have been witnessed together multiple times on-screen but they never clashed inside the squared circle.
‘The Tribal Chief’ recently spoke on the SI Media Podcast, was asked about a match against The Brahma Bull. He pointed out that a match between them at WrestleMania 38 next year at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas could be an “awesome scenario” but he is preferring a match at WrestleMania 39, which will be held at the SoFi Stadium in California.
Here is what Roman Reigns said about the potential match:
“Do we do it now or do we wait until we’re in his backyard of Hollywood? It just adds to the narrative. It adds another dynamic to speculate on. Obviously, AT&T Stadium, Dallas, home of the Cowboys, 100,000-plus fans can be in attendance, that’s obviously an awesome scenario, but SoFi Stadium, brand-new facility out there in L.A., hmm, that makes quite the argument in its own right.”
‘The Great One’ and ‘The Tribal Chief’ had previously shared screen when they were witnessed in the ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw’ movie. WrestleMania 39 is being dubbed as “WrestleMania Hollywood” and The Rock who has become a huge star in Hollywood would be an appropriate opponent for Reigns at the event.
Paul Heyman, ‘The Special Counsel’ to Reigns had previously delivered a warning to the former WWE Champion stating that if he steps in the ring with Reigns, it will be his last match ever.
“If The Rock steps into the ring with Roman Reigns at any time, let alone at WrestleMania, that will be The Rock’s farewell, whether The Rock wants it to be or not,” said Paul Heyman.
We will see if that match takes place down the road.
