It has been noted for several weeks that Big E teased cashing in his contract on the Tribal Chief by confronting Reigns’ special counsel Paul Heyman backstage on SmackDown. He has been boasting about winning MITB and kept on reminding that he has the opportunity to capture the Universal Champion.

Big E decided to rather chase the WWE title and went on to cash in his contract on Bobby Lashley on Monday Night RAW. ‘The Tribal Chief’ took note of it and took to Twitter account to laud the former New Day member’s smart move.

Prior to RAW, Big E had let his intentions known to win the WWE Championship dethroning Bobby Lashley. The former New Day member paid a visit to the red brand and this had led to speculations that he would win the title. WWE had announced WWE title match between Bobby Lashley and Randy Orton for the main event on RAW, which was previously scheduled to take place at the upcoming WWE pay-per-view, Extreme Rules.

Following Lashley’s successful title defense, Big E ran down to the ring with his briefcase and cashed in his contract. Few moments later he was crowned the new WWE Champion as the fans broke out with cheers. This marked his first WWE Championship reign.

After the show, Big E commented on winning the title in a backstage interview. Here is what he said:

“It’s the moments that I think that I really treasure,” said Big E. “I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about the moment. I go out and the music hits, and that crowd has already seen me a dozen times tonight.

He added: “To have people, to have peers [gets interrupted by The New Day]. It means the world to me. I think the dream for anyone in any vocation or craft is getting to do really cool things to get to the top of your craft but to do it with your best friends.”
