The England stars Phil Foden, the Manchester City talent and Mason Greenwood, Manchester United sensation was both called up for Gareth Southgate’s England National squad competing in UEFA Nations League. But, they were dropped after a incident.

Phil Foden, the Manchester City player and Mason Greenwood the Manchester United player both broke the rules of social distancing when they broughts girls to their hotel rooms.

They both have not maintained 14 days of quarantine and broke the behavioural rules of FA.

Phil Foden made his debut in the match when England faced off against Iceland on Saturday, while Mason Greenwood was subbed on for the Lions for the same.

A snapchat video was captured in the hotel and in an interview one of the girls stated, ”We had no idea about these [Covid-19] rules, they never said we could not take pictures.”

On this matter, Gareth Southgate, England boss said, “Unfortunately this morning it was brought to my attention that the two boys have broken the COVID guidelines in terms of our secure bubble. They couldn’t have interaction with the rest of the team.”

He added, “Nothing has happened in the areas we occupy in the hotel. We are still getting the depths of the information. Still getting to grips with the detail.”

“I’m not going into any more details until I’m clear of everything. No-one from outside the hotel has been into the areas we occupy. We are very clear that no other members of our party have been in contact with the two players — couldn’t join us for breakfast or training.”

He concluded, “I think at the moment I’m trying to take a lot of information in. Obviously they have been naive, we have dealt with it appropriately. I recognise their age, but the whole world is dealing with this pandemic.”

Manchester United released a statement:

“Manchester United are liaising with the Football Association and are disappointed with the actions of Mason Greenwood over this situation.”

Manchester City released a statement as well:

“It is clear that Phil’s actions were totally inappropriate.His behaviour not only directly contravenes strict guidelines related to COVID-19, but also falls well below standard expected of a Manchester City and England player. The club supports the FA regarding this incident.”

The players are expected to return to England after the turn of events. It is a major blow to the England squad and it is to be seen how Gareth Southgate deals with the missing blocks.
