A partnership between OTT platform Netflix and video game company Ubisoft, to create three mobile games as expansions of already existing franchises, is all set to commence from 2023 onwards.
The official announcement about the joint venture was made at Ubisoft’s annual digital event Ubisoft Forward. The games will be a part of Ubisoft’s existing franchises- Valiant Hearts, Mighty Quest and Assassin’s Creed and will expand upon their respective universes. The game will be Netflix mobile exclusive and will be available worldwide sans any ads or microtransactions.
The Valiant Hearts game, directed by the core team of the original game, will serve as a sequel to the 2014 release Valiant Hearts: The Great War. The puzzle adventure game will feature a new plotline, while it is expected to retain the original DNA of the franchise.
The Mighty Quest, which already had its 2015 release The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot as an action RPG on mobile, will return with a new launch, featuring the franchise’s well known hack-and-slash combat but in an all new format.
The renowned Assassin’s Creed franchise will also be getting an expansion on the platform, in the form of a mobile game built from scratch, which comes in the wake of the reveal of Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
“We’re thrilled to work with Ubisoft, whose track record creating memorable worlds for fans is unmatched,” said Mike Verdu, the vice president of Games @ Netflix, “This partnership will provide our members with exclusive access to some of the most exciting game franchises as we continue to build a catalogue of great mobile games for our members around the world.”
“As we continue to create great experiences on all platforms, we’re glad to be partnering with such an innovative and creative partner as Netflix. I believe that this partnership will be a great opportunity for Netflix members to further explore our worlds and universes on mobile” Ubisoft chief mobile officer Jean-Michel Detoc added.
