The NBA are currently dealing with a slew of injuries across several franchises. The concern for injuries was set in place by the players who had requested for the season to commence from January 2021. However, the December 22 start has resulted in the players bearing the shortest ever offseason between two campaigns.

During the game against the Brooklyn Nets, Morant made an attempt to block a shot and in the process seriously hurt himself. Initial replays suggested that he twisted his ankle.

The player proceeded to hop off the court and had to be assisted with a wheelchair. The match has been driven to overtime with nothing to separate the two sides across four quarters.

Elsewhere, Brooklyn Nets player Spencer Dinwiddie has suffered a partially torn ACL and as a result, will miss the remainder of the season. The player was inflicted with the injury during their game against the Charlotte Hornets.

An awkward landing in the third quarter sealed Dinwiddie’s fate. While initially being ruled as a knee strain, scans revealed that the case was much worse than it appeared at first.

The injury pile-up continues with Warriors center Marquese Chriss being the next casualty. The player broke his leg on Saturday and will undergo surgery according to the franchise.

Big names also on the injuries list

Injuries were reported even before the start of the season. Warriors’ Klay Thompson was ruled out for the second season in a row after a serious injury.

Lakers ace Anthony Davis is also ruled out of the team’s match against the Timberwolves due to a calf contusion. Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard had to miss Clippers’ game against the Mavericks due to injury sustained on the mouth.
