back in November last year, Mike Tyson set the boxing fandom on its toes after his daunting return to the sport against Roy Jones Jr, and the former heavyweight icon has just announced that his next fight is going to take place in May.

The highly anticipated exhibition bout against Jones ended in a draw, and was ranked the biggest pay-per-view event of 2020 with a whopping 1.6 million PPV sales. The fight, which took place at the Staples Center, also saw the famous Jake Paul vs Nate Robinson clash as an undercard.

The boxing fandom was amazed at Tyson’s physical abilities in-ring even at the age of 54, with even George Foreman saying that “Iron Mike” is still able to compete for world titles with his current physical condition.

Title shot or not, the global boxing fandom has been yearning to see the former undisputed champion don the gloves once again, and Tyson just revealed the date and place.

Recently, Mike Tyson was joined my WBC and WBA (Super) super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez and his trainer Eddy Reynoso on the Hotboxin’ podcast, along with former multi-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo joining as the co-host and translator.

On being asked by Reynoso about Mike Tyson’s return to the ring, Cejudo insisted the veteran reveal the details.

“You can probably drop the news now, Mike,” said Cejudo told Tyson, who replied, “End of May.”

Tyson also added that the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida which hosted the fight between Canelo and mandatory challenger Avni Yildirim will see his next fight,

“Where [Canelo] fought [against Yildirim]. Same arena,” Tyson went on, “May 29, or May 31, something like that.”

While he did not discuss anything about who he will face, there have been speculations that Tyson’s next fight could be the trilogy against former adversary, Evander Holyfield.

Tyson recently revealed that he was holding back against Jones as he wanted to go the distance with the former four division champion, but he also wished that he wants to “go all out” in hs next fight.

Tyson faced Holyfield twice and was defeated in both faceoffs, including the famous disqualification in the second fight after Tyson bit both of Holyfield’s ears, even removing a piece of his right ear.

Holyfield himself has been expressive to square off against Tyson again. “There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t make it happen. No more excuses. This is the fight that must happen for both our legacies,” Holyfield told Give Me Sport last week, “sign the contract and get in the ring, Tyson. The world is waiting and it’s on you now. I’m ready.”
