AEW star Matt Hardy recently shared his thoughts on WWE merging with UFC leading to the formation of the new TKO Holdings Inc. company and the deal was closed on September 12. Endeavor holds a 51% controlling interest in the new company and existing WWE shareholders hold a 49% interest. Matt Hardy believes that it will be interesting to see how things pan out for WWE. The former WWE star further talked about the possibility of crossover between the fanbases.
Matt Hardy comments on the matter
Chief Operating Officer Lawrence Epstein’s made some comments about turning every WWE fan into a UFC fan and vice versa. Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the AEW star shared his thoughts on the potential crossover between the WWE and UFC fanbases.
UFC President Dana White had stated that he didn’t think there was much of an opportunity for the crossover. Hardy stated that he didn’t expect to see UFC fans crossing over to wrestling, and vice versa despite the two companies are now owned by the same parent company.
However, Hardy stated that there would be some opportunities for promoting the two companies together.
“I don’t think you’re gonna have a lot of UFC mixed martial arts, shoot fighting fans really just jump other to wrestling because it’s also owned by the same company that owns UFC. I think people that enjoy the pageantry and the fantastical world of pro wrestling aren’t necessarily gonna jump to UFC, although I do think they’re both such unique, extreme sports and entertainment. I think there will be some great promotion you can do with them both together. I don’t know if fans of specifically pro wrestling or fans specifically of mixed martial arts are going to cross over and love the other brand just because now they’re under the same roof,” Hardy said.
