Minnesota Timberwolves player Malik Beasley has pleaded guilty to threats of violence and fifth-degree drug possession charges. The legal troubles come atop marital troubles for the player with his wife Montana Yao seeking a divorce after the 24-year-old player seemingly in a relationship with Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife Larsa Pippen.
The player’s attorneys Steven Haney and Ryan Pacyga have claimed that the guard has entered a guilty plea with his fifth-degree drug possession charges being dropped.
His punishment which currently looks like potential jail-time or home confinement will only be inflicted after the culmination of the 2020-21 NBA season. The duration is not expected to be more than 120 days and the violence charge will be demoted to a misdemeanour after the player completes probation.
The player had reportedly threatened a family, who were looking for homes in his neighbourhood, with an assault rifle. The family also involved a 13-year-old daughter to make matters worse.
The family, who were in a parked car on the street saw Beasley aim a rifle towards them and asked them to leave from his property.
Moreover, Beasley’s 23-year-old Instagram model wife Montana Yao was also involved with nearly two pounds of drugs being procured from their home by the police.
She had apparently revealed to the police that the drugs were for medical purposes, but lacked the necessary documentation to support her claims.

Aside from legal troubles, Beasley is set for a divorce with his relationship with Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife was more than what his wife could handle.
Larsa Pippen parted ways with the former Chicago Bulls star and reportedly dated Boston Celtics’ Tristan Thompson as well.
Images of the player holding hands with Larsa Pippen made the rounds which prompted Yao to file for divorce. Yao, who also has a child with Beasley, addressed the images on Instagram by stating:
“Things have been pretty rough I’m not going to [lie]. We were told to leave our family home 10 days ago and just like you all I’m pretty confused.”
Beasley recently signed a lucrative 4-year deal with the Timberwolves worth $60 million.
