Adrian Newey, the legendary Formula 1 designer, has been at the heart of recent speculation regarding his future in the sport. After almost 20 years with Red Bull Racing, Newey is set to leave the team in early 2025. His departure marks the end of an era, during which he played a pivotal role in transforming Red Bull from midfield contenders to multiple title-winning champions.
His business manager Eddie Jordan spoke about Newey’s future, keeping all doors open (rightly, for his role): “ Agreement done with Ferrari? It’s not like that, I can give my life on this. There is currently no inclination to go in any particular direction. We are evaluating opportunities and letting others come and talk to us,” These are his words in the Formula for Success podcast. “ It will always be Adrian’s decision, and so it should be .”
Adrian Newey: A Legendary F1 Designer’s Next Chapter
Ferrari, the legendary Italian team, has made a significant approach to secure Newey’s services. Despite never having worked for Ferrari in the past, Adrian Newey’s deep commitment to Red Bull has kept him away from the Scuderia. However, this time, Newey’s preference appears to be Ferrari. The Italian team has already signed Lewis Hamilton for next year on a multi-year contract. Aston Martin has also expressed interest in Newey, but it seems he is more inclined toward Ferrari.
While Adrian Newey has not ruled out the possibility of retirement from the sport, he will be present at this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix. His impact on Red Bull’s success cannot be underestimated, and he leaves the team as a “true legend,” according to team principal Christian Horner.
