Unified light middleweight world champion Jermell Charlo has sent out a message to Canelo Alvarez, calling out the undisputed champion at 168 that if he does not fight his identical twin brother and the WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo, then he should take “one of the toughest fights” of his career- Jermell. Jermall had called out Canelo multiple times last year, even before the latter clinched the undisputed super middleweight championship. However, with Canelo moving on to Dmitry Bivol and Gennadiy Golovkin fights, the twin sibling wants to step up to the Mexican and he is ready for “all the smoke”.

Be your free agent that you are, accept a one-fight deal: Jermell Charlo tells Canelo

Speaking to Brian Custer on the Last Stand Podcast, Jermell called out Canelo, mentioning that he is a free agent and nod to a one fight deal rather than accepting multi-fight ones, likely referring to the recent three fight deal that Canelo inked regarding his upcoming Bivol and GGG fights later this year.

“Come see me; I want the smoke. I want it all, baby,” Jermell said on the podcast, “Canelo, you’re a stud. A little short 5’8” mother f****, you go hard, but let’s see. We’re here to fight for our families. If you beat me, you’re better than me, cool. Can we prove that?”

“Be your free agent that you are, accept a one-fight deal, and go on and move on with life because you never know what’s next. Why do you want to accept ten fights, five fights, and four fights?”

Currently the unified WBA (Super), WBC IBF champion at 154, Jermell will be facing WBO champion Brian Castano in their much awaited rematch on 14th May for the undisputed light middleweight title, a fight which had originally taken place on 17th July last year but ended in a split decision draw.

Mentioning Canelo’s undisputed crown at 168 and his own path towards the same at 154, “Iron Man” continued, “You’re already the kind of your division. You’re the undisputed champion where you’re at and where I’m trying to become. When I come that way, I’m accepting that same money for a one-fight deal. They can do that possibly, and I ain’t trying to make nobody else pay no extra money but I believe that if my brother wants that fight like he said, what do my brother need to do? Go out on Instagram talking stupid to the Canelo fans?”

“Canelo, you got a lot of fans, and we love the fan base you got. You’re red-headed mother f***. You been knocking mother f**** out. Now, do you retire or take one of the toughest fights of your career against a young African American stud who has been working his a** off since he was eight years old?” Jermell added.
