UFC Women’s Flyweight contender Jennifer Maia has claimed that Casey O’Neill, her adversary at UFC 286, was “greased up” during their clash last weekend in London.

Casey was very greased up, very oily, very slippery: Jennifer Maia

On the main card, Maia and O’Neill had an entertaining, neck-to-neck clash which ended with the Brazilian having Brazilian clinched a unanimous decision win (30–27, 29–28, 29–28), marking her second straight victory since last year.

With her 21st pro victory, the former one-time title challenger, currently ranked 8th in the division, inches close to another shot at the title. All that being said, Maia dropped a striking accusation against “King” of being greased up in the fight.

“I’m happy with my performance, but I have so much more to show,” said Maia during the post-fight news conference. “I really wanted to show you guys my ground game, but Casey was very greased up, very oily, very slippery, and that really threw me off.”

While Maia suggests that she isn’t fond of making accusations just like that, she believes it could just be O’Neill having moisturizer on her skin.

“Listen, I don’t want to take shots like this – it can be skin moisturizer – but definitely I know it was not just sweat,” the 34-year-old went on, “The first time we locked bodies (I noticed) – as soon as we locked bodies against the cage. I have a very strong game against the cage, and I felt it extremely difficult to get a hold of her and keep a hold of her because she was so slippery. So I had to abandon that and go to boxing.” [H/T MMA Junkie]
