By the time Tatum was done, he managed to score 20-of-37 from the field, 5-of-7 from three, and also added eight rebounds, five assists, and a block. Tatum registered half of his points tally in the fourth quarter and overtime period. After steering the contest into overtime, the Celtics came out victorious by a slender 3-point margin.

The 23-year-old became the second-youngest player to register 60 points in a game after Devin Booker. Tatum also tied the Celtics’ record for most points in a game, a record which he now shares with legend Larry Bird.

It was a special night, says Tatum

Following the incredible display which solidifies the Celtics’ sixth spot in the Eastern Conference table, Tatum expressed his pleasure with the win.

“It was a special night, Just being around guys, playing with guys you enjoy being around, and are happy for your success … we all see the hard work each and every one of us put in every day, so that when someone, myself or whoever it is, has a night like that, just to share that moment with them is special. Just to have your teammates be happy for you means everything.” Tatum said

Jaylen Brown showered praise on his teammate by claiming that the youngster carried them to a win.

“I couldn’t throw a rock into the ocean tonight, and JT carried us to a win, man. He played hard. He led us tonight.” he stated

The Celtics, on a two-game streak next face Portland TrailBlazers at TD Garden on Sunday.
