Kyler Murray expressed his feelings on Thursday after learning that his teammate Trey McBride had inked a significant new deal.
Tight end McBride signed a four-year, $76 million contract with $43 million guaranteed from the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday. Due to his deal, McBride is the tight end with the greatest overall salary and average yearly value.
Murray said he was pleased McBride had signed the contract.
“Maaaaan! So happy for my dawg, worth every penny! More work to be done but a great day,” Murray wrote on X.
Murray has some great reasons to be happy — McBride was his favorite option last season. Murray targeted McBride a team-high 147 times, and McBride led the Cardinals with 111 catches for 1,146 yards. The only area where McBride did not lead the team was in receiving touchdowns as he only had 2 last year.
The 25-year-old McBride was a second-round pick by the Cardinals in 2022 out of Colorado State. He has averaged 77 catches for 776 yards and 2 touchdowns per 17 games during his NFL career.
