IKEA, the renowned Swedish furniture and home appliance company has joined hands with Taiwanese electronics company ASUS to introduce a lineup of gaming furniture and accessories. IKEA, in collaboration with ASUS’s dedicated PC gaming brand Republic of Gamers (ROG), will produce a vast range of gaming peripherals and accessories to enhance the experience for both the casual and professional gamers.
PC gaming in the 21st century is not just about having a state of the art computer with the latest and greatest hardware anymore. The peripherals, as well as the furniture associated with PC gaming, has also entered a new market which is dedicated to gamers, which has seen the rise of gaming chairs, computers built into desks and much more.
IKEA and ASUS ROG to jointly produce a range of furniture dedicated to gaming
Targeting this very area of gaming consumers, the DIY furniture specialists IKEA had already collaborated with UNYQ and Area Academy last year. Now, the company decides to team up with ASUS ROG, who have years of experience in producing computer components (motherboard, graphics cards, SSDs) as well as peripherals (monitors, headphones, keyboards, mice etc) high-end gaming laptops and mobile phones.
The project has been undertaken by IKEA Product Development Centre in Shanghai, China, and will produce around 30 dedicated gaming furniture.

“As a starting point for the product development process, IKEA and ROG designers and engineers had several workshops together with professional gamers and gaming lovers in Shanghai to explore home furnishing needs of gamers and identify the list of functions needed to secure a high quality gaming experience at home,” read an official statement on the IKEA newsroom.

Gamers have always dreamed of the perfect gaming space that is both comfortably functional and enables full immersion in games,” said Kris Huang, the General Manager of ASUS ROG Gaming Gear and ACCY Business Unit.

“With years of experience delivering innovative gaming solutions to gamers, ROG has a strong understanding of the gaming community. Together with IKEA as an expert in home furnishing, we envision that this collaboration will create synergies that empower gamers to build the gaming space they have always imagined in the comfort of their own homes,” Huang added.
The product lineup will be launched first in China in February 2021, and from October 2021 it will be available elsewhere.
