It seems that Edge has selected his competitor for Wrestlemania, that being The Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

EDGE NAMED “THE TRIBAL CHIEF” AS HIS WRESTLEMANIA OPPONENT

As Edge announced his return to WWE at the Royal Rumble, the event where he appeared in his shocking return a year earlier, he was considered one of the favourites to win the event. He entered at number one, and persisted throughout the match to actually win it, gaining a WrestleMania match against a World Champion of his choosing. He then toured around different brands, including NXT, searching for an opponent. During Elimination Chamber, he finally named “The Tribal Chief” to be his opponent.

HE HAS NEVER WON THE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN HIS CAREER

Edge has never won The Universal Championship, which is not surprising since the title had not yet been created when he was a regular wrestler in the roster. However, throughout his career, he has won the World Heavyweight Championship a record seven times, the WWE Championship four times, the Intercontinental Championship five times, the United States Championship once, the World Tag Team Championship a record twelve times, and the WWE Tag Team Championship twice.

Apart from his Championship reigns, he has had a lot more success in WWE. He won the King of the Ring tournament in 2001, was the first Money in the Bank ladder match winner in 2005, the first to cash in the Money In The Bank briefcase twice, and won the Royal Rumble match in 2010 and 2021, making him the first wrestler in history to achieve all four of those accomplishments. In 2012, WWE voted him as both the third best World Heavyweight Champion and 20th best wrestling villain in WWE history.

A superb contrast to be seen is the usage of Spear in the rivalry. While the move was popularized by Goldberg in WCW and Rhyno in ECW, Edge made it his trademark finisher during his WWE heydays. Reigns, who became a main roster superstar after his retirement, used Spear from the very beginning, and the move has since been highly associated with him.
