WWE Hall of Famer Edge has been away from the company since the Triple Threat match against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 37. Now, as the reports suggest, the Rated-R Superstar could make much-awaited return at this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view which is scheduled for August.

It has been noted that Edge is slated to be a part of SummerSlam 2021. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter also reported that the Rated-R Superstar could wrestle at the Biggest Party of the Summer after it was advertised that he would be appearing on the July 16 edition of SmackDown.

He said: “It is very likely that Edge will be wrestling at SummerSlam in August, especially considering the WWE Hall of Famer is being advertised for the huge July 16 episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Houston in front of fans.”

Pro-wrestling journalist Jon Alba has now also chimed in on this matter and recently posted a tweet sharing WWE’s possible plans for the former world champion at SummerSlam.

Alba stated that the former WWE Champion is currently being planned for SummerSlam and he could return as a babyface on SmackDown. It has been also speculated that he could be involved in a feud with the former WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins, who is top heel on the blue brand.

Jon Alba Tweeted: “Reported on @theLTGpodcast Patreon this week Edge is currently penciled in for the SummerSlam card as a babyface on the Smackdown side. Seems to give credence to that.”

Edge’s recent run in WWE

Edge drew the No.1 spot in the 2021 Royal Rumble match and he went on to outlast 29 other stars to win the contest by last eliminating his arch-rival Randy Orton. The Rated-R Superstar was in pursuit of the WWE Universal Championship and had announced later that that he would challenge Roman Reigns for the title to headline WrestleMania 37.

Daniel Bryan was also involved in the mix. However, Roman Reigns was successful in retaining the title after he pinned both Bryan and Edge in the main event of WrestleMania.

Since then, the Rated-R Superstar has been on hiatus and fans have been waiting for him to return. As mentioned, Rollins is the favorite to feud with him when he returns and there could be a possibility of a big ticket match between them for this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.
