Kevin Durant gets on the headlines regarding a brilliant double digit performance or regarding some picturesque three pointers. But this time, the Brooklyn Nets star’s name is doing rounds for something else.
The 32-year-old power forward had sent some very controversial texts to American Actor Michael Rapaport last year, some of which contain homophobic and misogynistic rants and the latter recently decided to share the DMs publicly, which has gotten Durant knee-deep in murky waters. So how did all of these start?
Michael Rapaport shares DMs from Kevin Durant he received in December
The entire verbal tussle stems back to a Twitter post Rapaport made in December last year, calling Kevin Durant “sensitive” regarding a post game interview with TNT’s Charles Barkley following a Warriors game.
“KD seemed deeply in his feelings with the (TNT) crew after the game. DAMNIT he’s super sensitive about everything. Don’t do the interview,” Rapaport’s original tweet read.
To which, Durant hit the actor back on Instagram with a screenshot of the tweet, calling him a “pale pasty cum guzzling b***” and a “piece of shit” and more.
The back and forth went on with Rapaport deciding to share Durant’s text on his Instagram story, following which the NBA star threatened to “spit” on Rapaport’s face and asked for his address, and the DMs were heated up more with Durant asking the actor to “suck a d***” and from calling him a “p****” to saying “Your wife doesn’t even respect your b**** ass,” and so on.
Four months since the conversation, Rapaport decided to take to social media, and posted four screenshots on Twitter during the late hours of Tuesday, along with revealing that he was surprised to see such texts from Durant, while claiming he receives similar DMs now and them.
“I receive threats and disgusting messages DAILY, but never in my wildest dreams did I think @KDTrey5 would be among them. The 🐍 himself is now threatening me, bringing up my wife and wants to fight. This is supposed to be America’s sweetheart right? #ImDaRealMVP” the 51-year-old actor posted.

Kevin Durant hits back with an apology, but Rapaport is not on board
After the DMs were public and Durant started receiving backlash from the netizens, the player made a tweet, while not denying the kind of texts he had sent to Rapaport last December, claimed that they would sometimes even talk “crazier” than what was revealed by the actor.
“Me and mike talk CRAZIER than this on the regular and today he’s pissed….My bad mike, damn!!” the 32-year-old wrote.
However, the apology did not sate Rapaport as the actor replied, denying the claim that Durant made about having “regular” conversations like this and even warned the player to not threaten him or talk about his wife.
