Tommy Lasorda, former Los Angeles Dodgers manager who lifted the team to two World Series titles has been admitted to hospital, the team recently revealed in a statement.

A Dodgers Hall of Famer, Tommy Lasorda was admitted to a hospital in Orange County, California under the intensive care unit, as the team revealed via a tweet. Although they did not share the reason he was hospitalised, Dodgers added that the veteran was comfortable under treatment.
“Los Angeles Dodgers Hall of Fame great Tommy Lasorda has been hospitalized in Orange County. Lasorda, 93, was admitted and he is in intensive care, resting comfortably. The family appreciates everyone’s thoughts and prayers; however, they request their privacy at this time,” the tweet from Dodgers read.

Tommy Lasorda: A majestic name at the Dodger Stadium
Tommy Lasorda is a legendary figure in the Dodgers dressing room, who reigned as their manager for two decades. With him at the helm, Dodgers became the World Series champion twice, in 1981 and 1988 and didn’t taste the silverware until this year when they defeated Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 to clinch their 7th title.
During his 20 years at the club from 1976 to 1996, Lasorda also became the head coach from 1973 to 1976. He was also the manager of the United States national baseball team that clinched gold at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
A former pitcher, Lasorda also played for Dodgers from 1954 to 1955, back when the team was based in Brooklyn, and later for Kansas City Athletics in 1956. He became the National League Manager of the Year twice, in 1983 and 1988.
