Tommy Lasorda is a legendary figure in the Dodgers dressing room, who reigned as their manager for two decades. With him at the helm, Dodgers became the World Series champion twice, in 1981 and 1988 and didn’t taste the silverware until this year when they defeated Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 to clinch their 7th title.

During his 20 years at the club from 1976 to 1996, Lasorda also became the head coach from 1973 to 1976. He was also the manager of the United States national baseball team that clinched gold at the 2000 Summer Olympics.

A former pitcher, Lasorda also played for Dodgers from 1954 to 1955, back when the team was based in Brooklyn, and later for Kansas City Athletics in 1956. He became the National League Manager of the Year twice, in 1983 and 1988.
