David Beckham announces docuseries on Netflix, here’s everything you need to know

Manchester United Legend and Premier League Hall of Famer David Beckham makes public the news of his collaboration with an upcoming Netflix documentary series which is going to highlight his decorated career, along with several obscured archive footages of the retired player.

The docu-series, made by Oscar winners, will depict David Beckham’s luminary career

The former footballer is the current president and co-owner of Inter Miami CF, besides owning English League Two side Salford City. After making his debut at Old Trafford at the age of 17, Beckham went onto win six Premier League titles as well as two FA Cups and a Champions League trophy and won the Treble in the 1998-99 season.

The docu-series, to be made by Academy Award winners Fisher Stevens and John Battsek and produced by Beckham’s TV company Studio 99, will completely pursue his life and career, starting all the way back from his meek youth in East London, along with pivoting his upsurge to popularity and endorsing the embellishment of his achievements as the iconic midfielder. It will also feature the legend’s family, friends and others who have strengthen him to build his successful career and talk about both on and off pitch.

“I’m excited to confirm that I am partnering with @Netflix on a documentary series about my life and career … The series will feature unseen archive, untold stories as well as interviews with the people who have been a part of my journey. The series is directed and produced by Academy Award winners @fisherstevens and John Battsek. Watch this space…@studio99,” Beckham wrote in a recent Instagram post, along with a childhood picture of Beckham, one during his time at United and one from the present day.

The international style icon has received a lot of comments from celeb buddies after the announcement including celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, who said, “Congrats mate.” Beckham’s son Romeo said he “can’t wait,” and MMA legend Khabib claimed David as “Legend.”

Though the release date or the title of the series is still unknown, it is known it would be directed and produced by  Academy Award winners Fisher Stevens and John Battsek. The series would be produced in association with Ventureland by Beckham’s television company – Studio 99.

Netflix has made several marvelous sports documentaries previously, including “The Last Dance” and “Sunderland ‘Til I die”. It seems that Beckham was uplifted by Michael Jordan’s documentary The Last Dance which began streaming in 2020. So the fans are really excited for this series and sure about a satisfying outcome. Even so, this is not the first streaming venture documentary of Beckham. It would be the second incursion following his involvement with Disney+ show “Save Our Squad”.
