CM PUNK JOINED WWE IN 2005

The self-proclaimed “Best In The World” signed with WWE in 2005, and won the WWE Championship twice, the World Heavyweight Championship three times, and the Intercontinental Championship and the ECW World Heavyweight Championship once each. However, he left WWE under controversial circumstances in 2014, retiring from professional wrestling in the process. He was a part of Fox’s WWE Backstage show as a special contributor and analyst. However, production of WWE Backstage was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequently suspended by Fox in June 2020.

HE ANSWERED A NUMBER OF INTERESTING QUESTIONS

When asked whom did he envision winning a triple threat between him and current Hollywood stars John Cena and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, he said that he would have guessed “The Leader Of The Cenation” to win the match. Then he went on to reveal the backstage idea. According to him, the creatives wanted Punk to get axed from the match quickly to let Cena and The Rock do their thing.

“Cena. Pitch was get me out first and let them have their lifetime moment,” he said.

When asked about situations where release talents were quickly brought back by WWE, which most recently happened in the case of Samoa Joe but was not an entirely new phenomenon, he said that it was because of disorganization in the company where the left hand did not have any idea about ideas of the right hand.

A Twitter user asked him about the validity of a rumour that he and Brock Lesnar called the entirety of their WWE Summerslam match live, without preparing the spots beforehand. He replied that while they had already planned the high spots when they entered the ring, they managed to form a coherent match between the spots in the ring.

He was asked to name the better booked faction between The Straight Edge Society or The Nexus. He said that The Straight Edge Society, where Punk played a Messiah-like character with his share of disciples was the one where he could be more creative with, as the creatives did not understand anything about the story behind the faction.
