The Premier League mid-week contest between Chelsea and Watford at Vicarage Road has been suspended due to a medical emergency in the stand. Players from both sides have been told to vacate the field with a fan reportedly collapsing at the Graham Taylor stand.Â
The match started on a bright note with Watford pressing high and forcing a couple of saves from Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. When play was stopped in the tenth minute due to an injury concern for left-back Mesina, Danny Rose appeared to prepare for a substitution.

However, the referee proceeded to have a word with both club captains Cesar Azpilicueta and Moussa Sissoko regarding the situation. The players subsequently left the field with the stadium speakers blaring the announcement of the medical emergency.
Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso was the player who apparently brought the situation in attention to the match officials. Moreover, CPR is also said to be in progress to the fan.
A similar situation had brewed up in a contest earlier this season between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park. Sergio Reguilon had alerted the match officials regarding a fan, who collapsed in the stands.
